That's right, Wiredsport now has Lakai shoes. We're not sure if you like stylish suede and canvas shoes but if you don't there may be something wrong with you. Lakai has been pumping out some of the best skate shoes on the market and as a result they have been blowing up. That meant one thing, we needed to get our hands on some for the shop (and for ourselves). We finally succeeded and after all of us at the shop spent a few hours debating over which pair we wanted to buy ourselves it's now your turn. Check out the Lakai page here!
Temps are falling, leaves are changing and the snowpack is ever so slowly starting to build on top of the mountains. That means its about time for the season to start. t's just in time to because we are finishing up the final touches on our new retail location in Gresham, OR. Tentative opening date is the first week of November, just early enough to swing by and grab some stuff on your way out to the mountain for the first time. We are excited to announce the arrival of Matix clothing to our store. We now have denim, tons of hoodies, tees, tanks and more. There's the smell of wax and p-tex in the shop. That's because we now have our brand new state of the art Wintersteiger equipment up and running. This stuff is unbelievable and makes tuning so easy a monkey could do it. But when it gets in the hands of a professional like the ones in our shop this stuff is like having a magic wand for your snowboard. Whether you need a quick sharpen, some temperature appropriate wax, a small base repair or your board has so many core shots it looks like someone took a shotgun to it, our guys will make it good as new!
These days flex is a big point of discussion in the snowboard world. Everybody has their opinion on how to rate flex and a number system to use etc. etc. (this includes us, see our flex rating blog here). However, most of these flex ratings deal with the flex of the board from tip to tail, also called Longitudinal flex. What many people don't know is that a snowboard flexes two ways, tip to tail via longitudinal flex, and it also has torsional flex which is the flex across the width of a snowboard. It is crucial that people are aware of torsional flex, especially beginners as it is what actually allows you to turn and transition from edge to edge. The Wiredsport store build has made some huge steps over the past week. We're almost set up to open and and people are getting stoked. Here's a breakdown and photos of some of the store. Some of us eagerly wait each year for the new board line ups to come out, ready to pour through the new technology of the year and see just what we can get to improve our ride for the year. However, some of the more casual riders are unaware that despite nearly 20 years of little to no advancement in snowboard technology, the past 5 years or so have brought around improvements at a speed only equaled by electronics.
